NYSP: Woman arrested for prison contraband in Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG, NY — On July 21, 2018, at approximately 11:45 a.m., State Police responded to the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility for a subject in possession of prison contraband.

Upon arrival, troopers assisted the New York State Department of Corrections Office of Special Investigations with an investigation that occurred on July 12, 2018, in which 22-year-old Gabrielle B. Jones of Brooklyn, NY, had utilized the United States Postal Service to mail a quantity of synthetic marijuana to an inmate who is incarcerated at Ogdensburg Correctional Facility, troopers said.

Also, on this date, while Jones was visiting the facility, she was found in possession of approximately 1.7 grams of marijuana, troopers said.

Jones was charged with first-degree Promoting Prison Contraband, Public Health Law 229-Violating the State Sanitary Code, second-degree Reckless Endangerment and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

Jones was arraigned in the Oswegatchie Town Court where she was remanded to St. Lawrence County Correction Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash, or $5,000 bond.
