Only passengers wearing masks will be allowed on Watertown’s city bus service

WATERTOWN, NY —  City of Watertown CitiBus provides essential transportation to many residents who rely on the transit service to reach work destinations, grocery stores and health care providers.

The safety of our employees and passengers working in this challenging environment requires a cooperative effort from everyone.

In accordance with a recent Executive Order from New York State, effective with the beginning of operations on Saturday April 18, the following policy will be strictly enforced for all passengers utilizing CitiBus and CitiBus Paratransit Service:

 ALL passengers will be required to cover their nose and mouth with a
mask or cloth face covering while on board CitiBus transit vehicles.

 Passengers who decide not to wear a face covering will be asked to leave
the vehicle.

The new face covering mandate will be in addition to the reduced seating available on each bus which was a step taken to increase the physical distance between riders in accordance with CDC guidelines. CitiBus will add additional buses and/or modify routes to accommodate the reduced seating capacity on our buses as needed.

CitiBus is currently providing service to WalMart and Target on Route 3, Arsenal Street in addition to their regular routes.

Passengers are asked to follow Centers for Disease Controls recommendations by:

 Staying at home when you feel ill, avoiding contact with others, especially if you have a cough, fever or are short of breath.

 Covering any coughs or sneezes

 Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth

 Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

 Maintain distancing from other passengers as much as possible by leaving seating space open and spreading out within the cabin area.

The City of Watertown will continue to monitor the situation and make additional changes as necessary.
