Pedestrian hospitalized, driver arrested following Friday morning collision

WATERTOWN, NY —  A female pedestrian was hospitalized and a driver is in police custody following a collision at the intersection of North Massey and Arsenal streets early Friday morning.

The incident occurred shortly after 7:35 a.m. when the pedestrian was struck by a Nissan pickup truck. According to initial emergency radio dispatches, the vehicle reportedly ran over the victim’s leg.

Emergency medical personnel from Guilfoyle Ambulance treated the victim at the scene before transporting her to Samaritan Medical Center. City firefighters were also dispatched to provide assistance.

At 7:52 a.m., city police officers arrested the female operator of the Nissan pickup.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the driver or specified the charges pending against her.
