Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York to register hundreds of voters on National Voter Registration Day

News release

WATERTOWN, NY  –  This National Voter Registration Day, September 20th , Planned Parenthood of the North Country New York is launching a civic engagement campaign, Your Rights. Your Vote. Your Future., throughout six counties and seven health centers in the North Country. The goal is to encourage people to make their voices heard on Election Day regardless of their background, beliefs, or political ideology. Affiliate staff and volunteers will be registering voters on college campuses, at some Planned Parenthood health centers, and in other community locations.

National Voter Registration Day is a celebration of the right to vote and of the
importance of being registered. It is a non-partisan, collaborative effort to register and provide information about voting to Americans everywhere. National Voter Registration Day coalition partners will create opportunities to reach thousands who could not be reached otherwise and educate more Americans than ever before, bringing new voters into the fold.

Quote from Katie Ramus, Chief Experience Officer, PPNCNY:

“As the largest and most diverse generation our country has ever seen, we must ensure that our voices are being heard. Voting is one of the most powerful ways to do that. We’re registering hundreds of voters today to ensure that everyone’s voices are heard.”

Planned Parenthood health centers across the country see 2.5 million patients
annually. Many of these people are young voters, people of color, or people with low-incomes –– the same communities that historically have been disenfranchised and continue to face unnecessary hurdles when trying to vote. These disparities hurt our democracy and disproportionately impact disenfranchised communities.

Planned Parenthood is the nation’s leading provider and advocate of high-quality,
affordable health care for women, men, and young people, as well as the nation’s
largest provider of sex education. With over 600 health centers across the country,
Planned Parenthood organizations serve all patients with care and compassion, with respect and without judgment. Through health centers, programs in schools and communities, and online resources, Planned Parenthood is a trusted source of reliable health information that allows people to make informed health decisions. We do all this because we care passionately about helping people lead healthier lives.
