WATERTOWN, NY — On 06/13/23 members of the Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force were participating in a multi-agency drug investigation. This led to a vehicle stop in the 200 block of N. Rutland Street in the City of Watertown.
The vehicle stopped was a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu which was occupied by Juan C. Benedict and Drew M. Shroy.
Investigation led to the seizure of 951 glassine envelopes containing fentanyl, approximately 200 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 16 grams of cocaine, $1,217.00 in US currency, 19 suboxone strips, 4 suboxone pills, and a small amount of suspected psychedelic mushrooms.
As a result, Juan C. Benedict (age 36, Watertown, NY) and Drew M. Schroy (age 27, Watertown, NY) were both charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 2 nd degree (class A-II felony) and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3 rd degree (class B felony).
Both Mr. Benedict and Mr. Schroy were processed and held pending arraignment.
The Metro-Jeff Drug Task Force was assisted by the NYSP Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit, the NYSP Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team, the NYSP Community Stabilization Unit, and NYSP K-9 Unit and uniformed Troopers.
This is an on-going investigation. Additional charges are pending.
