Richard A. “Richie” Dickson, 66, Clayton

CLAYTON, NY —  Richard A. “Richie” Dickson, 66, Clayton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 4, 2020.

He was born Jan. 17, 1954, in Plattsurgh, a son of Warren M. and Kathleen Goodwin Dickson. The family moved to Clayton and he was a 1972 graduate of Clayton High School.

Two marriages ended in divorce.

Richie worked as a heavy equipment operator for Kenny Rogers Construction, Clayton.

He was an avid NY Giants and Boston Red Sox fan. He was active in sports, coaching many and at different levels.

Richie enjoyed fishing and growing and tending to flowers.

He was a Past Commander and active in the Color Guard for the Sons of the American Legion Colon Couch Post 821.

He is survived by his long time companion, Karen J. Daub, Clayton; son and his wife, Christopher T. and Maria Dickson, Black River; daughter and her husband, Jennifer Lyn and Frank Cook, SC; grandson, Liam Dickson and there is one on the way; three sisters and their husbands, Paula D. and Anthony G. Deckman and Judy A. and Edmund M. Gee, all of Syracuse and Julie E. and Todd F. Gillard, Oswego; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Along with his parents, Richie was predeceased by his two brothers, Ronald E., July 10, 1980, and Douglas R., October 27, 2004.

A celebration of his life will be at his family’s convenience at a time and date to be announced.
