Richard J. Farr, 81, Clayton

CLAYTON, NY — Richard J. Farr, 81, Clayton, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 6, 2019.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the funeral home with Pastor Donald Briant presiding with burial following in Sand Bay Cemetery.

Dick was born in Felts Mills on April 19. 1938, son of the late Stanley E. and Florence M. Bovee Farr. He attended Felts Mills schools and graduated from Cape Vincent High School, then received an associated degree from Canton ATC.

A marriage to Virginia Boulton ended in divorce. He married Carol R. Delaney in Cape Vincent on Aug. 14, 1974.

He worked as a mechanic for Glenn Johndrow. He then began his career with the Thousand Islands Central School District as a mechanic. He retired as Supervisor of Transportation for the district after many years of service to the school. Dick was a Cape Vincent Town Justice and served on the Town Board of Cape Vincent for several years. He was a member of the Sand Bay Cemetery Association. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed ice fishing and camping.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his two daughters, Deborah A. Farr, Clayton and Laura L. Boudreau, Marysville, WA; stepson, Scott D. Miller and wife, Faith, Clayton; six grandchildren and one great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his stepson, Thomas P. Miller, June 21, 1985, and his two brothers, Stanley E. Farr, Jr., July 28, 1994 and Willard C. Farr, August 17, 2002.
