ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY — River Hospital announced today that Emily Mastaler, President and Chief Executive Officer of River Hospital will resign after a four plus year tenure in May 2024 to pursue a new opportunity as the Chief Administrative Officer of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital in Southampton, N.Y.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I want to express our sincerest thanks to Emily for her leadership at River Hospital,” said Norman E. Snyder, River Hospital Board Chairman. “We are in an incredibly strong position for the future, and we are extremely grateful for her hard work and dedication to advance our strategic plan, while navigating the complex challenges that exist in the health care industry. The Board is presently finalizing an interim plan, which will be formally announced shortly. In the interim, Emily will remain as CEO for the next few months.”
In announcing her departure, Ms. Mastaler stated “The next couple of months will focus on a smooth transition, ensuring the incredible gains we have made over the last several years will continue. I will cherish the time that I have spent as River Hospital’s President & CEO. I am deeply thankful for all that I have learned from our staff, our patients, and our partners. I know the Hospital is in great hands and I have great confidence that it will continue to elevate excellence in rural healthcare delivery, while continuing to be a leading example for critical access hospitals across the nation.”
