Robert T. Gallagher, 65, Three Mile Bay

THREE MILE BAY, NY — Robert T. Gallagher, 65, of Three Mile Bay died unexpectedly after being flown to Upstate University on Saturday, June 1.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Becker-Cleveland Funeral Home, Chaumont, NY.

Born Oct. 11, 1953, the son of Rollin and Gloria (Ayers) Gallagher, he graduated from Watertown High School in 1972, upon then he entered the U.S. Navy where he taught sailors to swim.

After coming home he completed training as a Journeyman for the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen Local 56 and began his masonry career with Stebbins
Engineering. He retired from Jefferson County Buildings Department

He married Cathy Lee Charlton on Feb. 21, 1976, at Sacred Heart Church in Watertown.

He was a member of Holy Family Church in Watertown and St. Vincent de Paul in Cape Vincent.

An avid sportsman, hunter, archer, trapper and fisherman, he was president of Jefferson County Sportsmens Federation as well as a member of several hunting clubs including Watertown Sportsman Club, Mad River Club, Handsome Pond Club in Tupper Lake and Owls Head in Malone. He knew the Adirondacks, Tug Hill, and Lake Ontario like no one else. He also took pride in coaching youth hockey with his son’s teams.

He was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Robert is survived by his wife of 43 years; a daughter, Rachel Slate; a son, Ethan and fiancé Heather Blair, all of Three Mile Bay.

He took the most pride in his grandchildren Samantha, Thomas and Gabriel who were the sparkle in his eye.

Additionally he is survived by a sister Erin, and two brothers, Steven and Edward.
