Rodman man accused of possessing sword disguised in walking cane

WATERTOWN, NY —  Cory T. Norton, 26, of 23320 Wyman Road, Rodman, was charged by Watertown police at 2:36 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at 629 Lansing St. with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.

Mr. Norton is accused of possessing a sword that was sharpened on both sides and disguised in a walking cane at about 2:22 a.m. Saturday, according to court documents. “The defendant also had a previous misdemeanor conviction for fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property on Dec. 9, 2016, in City Court,” police wrote.

He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
