HARRISVILLE, NY — Ronald B. Carpenter passed away at his home in Harrisville Friday May 10, 2019 at the age of 70 of health-related issues.
The most influential man in my life has passed on and I had nowhere near enough time.
There will be an eternal void in my heart, but I still consider myself the luckiest man alive to have had the time that I did, and would give the world for 1 more day, hour or even a minute with him. He spent his time teaching me to be the best man that I should be. With support or criticism, it was always with love. The world has lost a great man that can never be replaced. Those who really knew him will understand, those of you who did not, missed out.
A very private man, Ron supported his family in everything they did, from work, hunting, helping endlessly to building a house, and even being a 60-year-old babysitter to his granddaughter. Anytime he was asked to do something, help or just give advice, the answer was always yes. He never hesitated to put what he had on hold to help. A phone call at any time was all it took for him to go wherever and do anything.
Born in Binghamton, NY, on Jan. 15, 1949, to Bruce and Mary Carpenter, he spent his childhood and early years in Thieles, NY. After high school he enlisted in the Marines where he served 3 years in the 1st Company Forced Reconnaissance division in Vietnam.
Leaving as a Sargant and with a purple heart. He was always a Marine.
After his time in the Marines, he moved to Northern New York where he worked at
different jobs including Frink in Clayton, NY and then Gouverneur Talc until his
retirement.
Other than work he had many hobbies. He was an avid hunter and member of Greenwood Falls Hunting Club where he enjoyed years of hunting and four-wheeling, along with many Thanksgiving morning family hunts at camp. He was also an accomplished bowler and bowled in many leagues in Gouverneur and Harrisville. Riding his motorcycle was always an enjoyment although he was not able to get as many miles as he would have liked in recent years. His love above all things was spending time with his grandchildren, whether it be hunting, celebrating birthdays, sporting events, or dance recitals, they all had his love and support in all that they chose to do.
He is survived by three children Mary Hyatt of Virginia, Todd (Heidi) McIntosh of
Harrisville and Casey (Bridget) Carpenter of Philadelphia and nine grandchildren Selena, Megan, Taylor, Dalton, Brooke, Tucker, Codi, Chase and Chanse.
Ron was predeceased by his parents and brother Robert Carpenter of South Carolina.
The mothers of his children also survive him, Sandra Wilkinson and Jill McIntosh
Carpenter.

At his request there will be no services. Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, NY.
