Ronald G. Houppert, 72, Clayton

CLAYTON, NY —  Ronald G. Houppert, 72, Clayton, died Jan. 15, 2020, at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

Ron was born April 12, 1947, in Syracuse, the son of Gilbert and Nancy Nojaim Houppert, he graduated in 1965 from Onondaga Valley Academy.

On Aug. 22, 1970, he married the former Anne Arnold at St. Anthony’s Church in Syracuse.

Ron worked from 1970 until his retirement in 1993 as a Field Service Technician for General Electric. He also worked in many departments for General Electric as needed. After his retirement, Ron went back to college and graduated in 1997 with an overall GPA of 3.67.

In 2006, Ron and his wife moved to Clayton from Baldwinsville.

Ron enjoyed snowmobiling, was an avid deer hunter, and golfer.

He survived by his wife, Anne; three sisters, Pam (David) Moziak, Gayle Talarico, and Lori (Bill) Welton, all of Florida; nieces and nephews; two aunts, Pat Houppert of Croghan, and Gladys Felber of Syracuse.

Calling hours with be held 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clayton. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Decan Neil Fuller officiating at the church.

There will be a spring graveside service at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Clayton, as well as a Celebration of Life at his favorite golf course in Syracuse at a time to be announced.
