BLACK RIVER, NY —Â Ronald R. Porter, 63, of 31569 Card Road, Black River, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, at the home of his companion in Calcium where he was surrounded by family and friends.
Born Sept. 4, 1957, in Watertown, NY, the son of Richard C. and Doreen I (Gleason) Porter, he graduated in 1976 from Carthage Central High School.
Ron owned and operated a dairy farm for 19 years, was a carpenter and worked construction, owned and operated a truck, and had the saw mill on the Porter farm for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren and gathering with family and friends at the Porter’s Pond. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Back River.
Among his survivors are his companion of 26 years, Karen S. Wills, Calcium; three sons and their wives, Ronald M. (Stacy) Porter, Rochester, Eric R. (Natali) Porter, LaFargeville, Bryan G. (Jesse) Porter, Copenhagen; 12 grandchildren, Aubrey, Ella, Marlo, Grant, Reagan, Merritt, Lorraine (Tyler) Tavian, Mason, Noah, Patrick and Grace; a great-granddaughter, Charlotte; Karen’s daughter and son-in-law, Heidi (Jeremy) Tuttle, Carthage; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Randy (Elizabeth) Porter, Black River, Roger Porter, Black River, Ray (Tina) Porter, Black River, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Ricky Porter.
Arrangements are with the Bruce Funeral Home, Black River.
There will be no services. It was his wish to be cremated and his ashes be buried at Porter’s Pond.
