Rosalie K. Young, 79, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY — Rosalie K. Young, 79, of Erie Street, Watertown, passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Samaritan Medical Center.

Born Aug. 13, 1939, in Watertown, a daughter of Curtis and Elizabeth Jeffery Mayne, she graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in 1957, where she was a magnificent member of the choir. In 1966, she graduated from Mercy School of Nursing. She also attended the Dealing School of Music as a young woman.

She was a licensed practical nurse for over 48 years at Mercy Hospital until the hospital closed. She then was employed with the Renal Care of Northern New York.

She married Roger Pitcher on Aug. 10, 1958, at St. Patrick’s Church, the couple were divorced in 1975. On Aug. 30, 1975, she married Harold “Jim” Young at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Elmer officiating. Mr. Young died April 18, 2004.

Mrs. Young was a communicant of Holy Family Church, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 61, where her husband, Jim Young, was the past post commander.

She enjoyed going to the casino, comedy clubs and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children; sons, Donald (Victoria) Pitcher, Sackets Harbor, Rick Monaco, Arizona, Kevin (Gisella) Young, Rochester, step-son, Kenneth (Tracy) Young, Watertown, daughters, Roberta Randall and her companion Bruce Toher, FL, Stephanie Pitcher, Watertown, Della Pitcher and her companion Arthur Beardmore, Watertown, step-daughters, Karen Aubrey, Florida, Kim Clark, Watertown; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brothers, Curtis “Spike” (Evelyn) Mayne, Panama City, FL, Russell ( Donna) Mayne, Watertown, and Dana (Jessica) Mayne, Cape Vincent; and a sister, Marilyn (George) Nugent, Watertown.

Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Holy Family Church with Rev. Steven Murray officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Post #61 immediately following the burial.
