Rose Corbett, 93, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY —  Rose Corbett, 93, died early Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at Samaritan Medical Center.

Mrs. Corbett was born March 6, 1925, in Watertown, the daughter of the late John and Rosina (Leutch) Schneider. Rose graduated from Watertown High School.

She married Jack A. “Smokey” Corbett on Dec. 11, 1943, in Baltimore, MD.

Rose was a secretary for Foster and Adams in Watertown and Bomax where she retired from.

Rose and Jack spent many weekends at their camp in Lowdale, town of Lyonsdale with family and friends and moved there after retirement. They also spent winters in Florida. Jack died on Oct. 6, 2009, in which time they resided on the Wetmore Road, town of Watson.

She was a member of the Greig United Methodist Church.

Rose liked playing cards, riding mini bikes at camp, and most of all she loved fishing. She and her sister were well renown for their quilt making. Rose supported the military by knitting helmet liners, and knitted lots of hats for children of fellow parishioners.

She is survived by her four daughters, Cindy (William) Jones of Crossville, TN; Edie Washer of Watertown; Cassie Greenwood of Argyle; and Katrina (Steve) Blake of Lowville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; her sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Funnel.

She was predeceased by her daughter Christine A. Corbett who died in 1975, and her brother John Schneider.

Per Rose’s wishes there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be announced in the spring.
