Ryan R. “Smiley” Carter, 29, LaFargeville

LAFARGEVILLE, NY – Ryan Richard “Smiley” Carter, 29, of State Route 411, died on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at home.

Born Feb. 3, 1989, in Watertown, a son of Richard A. Carter and Darlene A. Countryman, he received his GED.

He was most recently employed as a laborer by PTL Contracting in Theresa, New York.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing go-kart racing and of course, his green truck.

Ryan was a free spirit and an extremely hard-worker.  He was very generous and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need.

Surviving are his father, Richard A. Carter of Lafargeville, NY and his mother, Darlene A. Countryman of Rome, NY; four siblings, Cortney Adeline Carter and her fiancé Mason Tyler Delosh of Evans Mills, NY; Jordan Michael Carter and his companion, Tommy Maneen of Frankfort, NY; Richard Allen Carter Jr. and his fiancé Tiffany Briant of Natural Bridge, NY; Gabrielle Carter of Lafargeville, NY; and his loving nephew, Grason Ryan Delosh.

There will be no public calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 3:00 PM in Orleans Cemetery, Cemetery Rd., Lafargeville.  The family requests that anyone in attendance dress casually, as that is what they feel Ryan would want. His family will be wearing jeans and a red shirt, which was Ryan’s favorite color.

A celebration of life gathering will immediately follow the graveside service at the Lafargeville American Legion Post #1788. The family requests that the public please bring a dish to pass if possible.
