WATERTOWN, NY — Safe Schools Endeavor Steering Offers a FREE Active
Shooter/Active Response training at Faith Fellowship Church, 131 Moore Ave, Watertown, September 25, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. This is open to all community members and age appropriate for Grades 7 and older and will help develop effective skills needed to protect themselves.
“Sadly, schools have increasingly become targets for individuals resolved to commit acts of violence. This training will help people EMPOWER THEMSELF TO TAKE ACTION!” said Rebecca Paté-Johnson, Safe Schools Endeavor Steering Offers.
In the days following the February 14, 2018, shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, that left 14 students and three staff members dead, and 17 others wounded, a group of North Country residents were called to act in their own communities in Jefferson and Lewis counties. The initiative is a partnership with the Northern New York Community Foundation, which stewards the Safe Schools Endeavor fund that supports improvements to school safety.
While school safety leads many discussions across the country, the Safe Schools
Endeavor was created to encourage chance at a very local level. Its founding members believe our children are our most precious resource and should never worry for their safety at school.
