Samuel A. Struhl, 47, formerly of Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY —  Samuel A. Struhl, 47, formerly of Watertown, passed away March 22, 2019, in Harker Heights, Texas.

Sam was born May 5, 1971, in Plainfield, New Jersey.  He was adopted at birth by Bernard and Judith Struhl.  As an adult, Sam was reunited with his birth mother, Carlyn Furno.

He married Elizabeth Roshia on June 22, 2001, in Dexter, NY.

Sam was in the U.S. Army from 2000 to 2002. He was most proud of being a wildland firefighter out of Idaho. He had dreamed of starting a wildland truck company called Black River Fire Suppression.  Sam lived all over the United States and has friends everywhere. He was grateful to all of them.

Sam’s friendships meant the world to him. Some special mentions: Mateja Jestrovich (extra dad) and his son Alex Jestrovich (extra brother), and dearest friend, Jethro Nisson who were his oldest and most cherished friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Sam loved his daughter, Aly. He would talk about her to everyone.

Sam is survived by his daughter Alyce Struhl, her mother, Elizabeth (Roshia) Struhl,  his loving girlfriend Laura Dodd Joss, Harker Heights, Texas, his mother, Carlyn Furno, Bayville, New Jersey, three sisters, Lisa Falcone, Jackson, New Jersey, CaraMia Warfle, Quinton, New Jersey, Anjelica Furno, Bayville, New Jersey, a brother, Len Acken, Forked River, New Jersey, nephews, Corey, Phoenix, and Blake, nieces, Taylor, Talia, and Leokadia, and many friends.

He was predeceased by his father Bernard Struhl and step-father John Furno.

There will be a memorial service for Sam on April 27, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Anglican Church of Christ the King, 129 N. Rutland St., Watertown, NY.
