Saturday Community Heroes evert update: Healthy Kid’s Day activities moved inside and M2M Run to Glory canceled

News release

WATERTOWN, NY – Due to continued air quality alerts stemming from Canadian fires and the uncertainty of conditions on Saturday, the Watertown Family YMCA and the City of Watertown have made the difficult decision to cancel the Monument-to-Monument 5K Run to Glory and move Healthy Kids Day Activities and Vendor displays inside. All Healthy Kids Day activities will be relocated indoors to the Fairgrounds YMCA, 585 Rand Drive, Watertown, NY.

“We are lucky to have a large indoor space for families and kids to be inside and
enjoy the activities. Healthy Kids Day is about keeping our children healthy, and we felt this decision was in the best interest of all” states Shawna Cutuli, YMCA Deputy CEO.

Activities for families and kids will run from 10 am – 12 noon Saturday June 10 at the Fairgrounds YMCA with the 10th Mountain Division Band providing entertainment. Everyone is welcome to attend this all-family event.

“The decision to cancel the 2023 Run to Glory part of the Community Heroes Celebration was not an easy decision and was made out of an abundance of caution due to the physical nature of the event, and ongoing safety recommendations,” notes City of Watertown Parks and Recreation Superintendent, Scott Weller.

The Watertown Family YMCA will be reaching out to participants that have already registered for the race.
