CARTHAGE, NY — Shawn Roy Cummins, 35, of State Route 26, Carthage, died early Thursday evening, Oct 12, 2023, at the Carthage Area Hospital from injuries he sustained in a work-related automobile accident on State Route 3 in the town of Diana.
Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023, at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, with a funeral to follow in the Chapel at 7 p.m.
He was born on July 9, 1988, in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Charles B. Meyer and Shirley Diane Cummins. He graduated from Carthage High School. He was employed by Williamson Trash Removal and Septic as a CDL driver.
Shawn married Victoria E. “Vicki” Allen on Oct. 11, 2014, at Turning Point Park.
He leaves behind his wife, Vicki Cummins, their beloved four-year-old daughter, Dinah Cummins, and a baby on the way in March of 2024; all of Carthage; his mother Shirley Cummins, along with his siblings, Ryan (Emily) Cummins, and Alan Cummins, both of Carthage.
Shawn will be greatly missed by all those who knew him and loved him. He was a nature enthusiast and enjoyed playing games on the Xbox, along with cards and board games with his family and friends. But most of all he loved cuddling and spending time with his daughter, Dinah! Shawn was always so proud of his wife and how she raised their daughter to be so kind and smart.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory, there is a GoFundMe page established for Shawn Cummins. The money raised will go towards his memorial expenses for his family during this difficult time. Shawn had the kindest soul and would help anyone in any way he could. Any amount you can give is very much appreciated; no amount is too small. Thank you for all your support.
