St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force announces recent arrests

CANTON, NY — The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office arrested Scott T. Murphy age 20 of Ogdensburg on Oct. 14, 2020, at about 5:40pm for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree which is a class C felony.

The arrest stemmed from a motor vehicle stop that took place on October 2nd at
approximately 3:00 am in the Town of Hammond where Mr. Murphy allegedly possessed more than one gram of methamphetamine.

Mr. Murphy was arraigned in the City of Ogdensburg Court and was remanded to
the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility awaiting further court action on a
later date.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office also arrested Roland Lafave Jr. age 50 of
Ogdensburg on Oct. 17, 2020, for 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a
Controlled Substance in the 3th Degree which is a class B felony and 2 counts of
Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree which is also a B felony.
The arrest stems from a St. Lawrence County grand jury indictment where it is
alleged that Mr. Lafave possessed and sold cocaine to a police informant on two
different occasions. Mr. Lafave was booked into the St. Lawrence County
Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment in St. Lawrence County Court.

The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by members of the St.
Lawrence County Drug Task Force, United States Border Patrol, Canton Police
Department, Gouverneur Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations
and Ogdensburg Police Department.
