CANTON, NY — The St. Lawrence County Multi-Use Trail Board announces that all trails will be closed to ATVs/UTVs beginning on September 15 th because it is the start of hunting season. They will remain closed until May 15, 2026, or when trails are deemed usable after the frost is out of the ground and mud season has passed.
This summer has been a very good year with increased sales of trail passes sold
and increased members riding the trails; the trails have been upgraded in many
areas. Lots of work went into maintaining the trail system to get it in such good
shape. Thanks to all the people who work hard to keep the trails so well
maintained. Also, trail ambassadors will start performing in the upcoming year to
help ensure safety and trail assistance.
Now is the time for snowmobilers to begin preparing for the reopening of the trails
on December 15, 2026, and as always, snow permitting, by having their snow
machines properly maintained, insured, and licensed.
Remember, be safe out there. By following the trail rules no matter the season, all
participants should have a good ride!
And for your information, Clarkson University is conducting a study and analysis
of the St. Lawrence County Multi-Use Trail System on behalf of the St. Lawrence
County Board of Legislators. People who have concerns, questions, or comments
about the planning, use,and/or impact of the Trail System are invited to attend the
final public input session that will take place at AMVETS Bingo Hall, 25 Rutman
Road, Parishville on Thursday, September 24th at 5:30PM. This is an opportunity
to learn more about the Trail System and make sure all concerns and comments are included in the data collection process.
