State police investigate a fatal accident in town of Lisbon

LISBON –  On July 18, 2023, around 9:22 p.m., State Police members responded to a two-car serious personal injury accident.

A preliminary investigation determined a white Toyota Tundra was traveling south and a Red Toyota Rav 4 was traveling north on State Highway 37, in the town of Lisbon. Further investigation determined the Toyota Tundra, operated by Brian J. Snyder, age 37, with passenger Cynthia M. Murdock, age 35, both of Massena, NY went into the opposite lane of traveling causing a head on collision with the Toyota Rav 4 operator, Michael K. Barkley Jr., age 51, with passenger Michael K, Barkley Sr., age 79, both of Ogdensburg, NY.

Snyder and Murdock were treated on scene and transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Barkley Sr. was being treated on scene and was subsequently air lifted to Upstate Medical Center where he is in critical condition.

The operator of the Toyota Rav 4, Barkley Jr. was pronounced deceased at the scene by the St. Lawrence County Coroner.

The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to this incident.

Ogdensburg Fire and Rescue and Lisbon Fire and Rescue assisted with the scene.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
