Statement from NYSDOT Region 7 Director Ken Bibbins about Paddy Hill bridge closure

Statement from NYSDOT Region 7 Director Ken Bibbins

In February, the State Department of Transportation began an $11.9 million project to replace the bridge carrying State Route 12E over the Black River in the Village of Brownville, Jefferson County, known locally as the Paddy Hill Bridge.

It was our full intention to keep the existing structure open to traffic until construction on the new bridge was completed, but a routine inspection this afternoon necessitated the immediate closure of the bridge until construction is completed later this fall.

Safety is our number one priority at NYSDOT and we will keep the public informed on the progress of this project as we get closer to the finish line.
