SU to play Georgetown Dec. 11 at Capital One Arena

SYRACUSE, NY – Syracuse will travel to Washington D.C. to take on former BIG EAST Conference foe Georgetown, on Saturday, December 11 at Capital One Arena.

Series Notes
 The Orange have faced the Hoyas 96 times, making Georgetown the fifth-most familiar opponent in program history. Syracuse leads the series, 52-44.
 The teams first met in 1930, when the Orange defeated the Hoyas, 40-18, in Syracuse’s Archbold Gym.
 Syracuse and Georgetown squared off last season on January 9. Buddy Boeheim led the Orange to a 74-69 victory inside the Dome with 21 points.

The Hoyas compiled a 13-13 record last season. After finishing conference play with a 7-9 record, Georgetown won four games in a row at Madison Square Garden to win its first BIG EAST Tournament since 2007 and earn an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament. Georgetown suffered a 96-73 defeat at the hands of fifth-seed Colorado in the opening round. Coach Patrick Ewing is entering his fifth year at the helm in the nation’s capital, where he owns a 62-59 record.

Syracuse was 18-10 last season and secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The 11th-seeded Orange upset San Diego St. and West Virginia to advance to the Sweet 16 before losing to Final Four-bound Houston.
