Susan E. Babel, 62, Watertown

WATERTOWN, NY —  Susan Elizabeth Babel, 62, Watertown, passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at the University Hospital in Syracuse.

She was born on Nov. 30, 1959, in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Rosemary Fayette-Bryant and Gordon Bryant Jr., both of whom predeceased her.

She graduated from Watertown High School in 1977.

Surviving siblings consist of a sister, Rosemary Lortie and husband Gregory from watertown, NY; a brother, Alan Bryant, his wife Carol, Watertown; Diane Lynch and her companion Larry Scott; a sister, Mary Bryant-Krauss, Clarence, NY; a brother, Gordon Bryant III and his wife Eileen, Manlius.

A sister, Beverly Atwood, Tampa, FL, died before her.

She went on to become a full time employee in the work force where she held pride in every job position she filled. She was a hard working, gracious and honest woman. With a big heart, helping hands and comforting demeanor.  Susan was always considered a great asset to every job she worked. Always exceeding the expectations to her employers and co-workers alike, always went above and beyond.  If you ever worked with her you never forgot her based on her work ethic.

Susan married William A. Babel on Sept. 15, 1985 . They welcomed a daughter into the world Stephanie Ann Babel an only child on Sept. 29, 1989.  Although Susan and William were married 25 years, their marriage had amicably ended in divorce after that time.

Susan had moved from the family home in Clayton to Watertown to be closer to her work as well as her family and roots, in her home town of Watertown. Susan loved helping others, believed deeply in Jesus and her Catholic beliefs. She loved a good laugh. She loved to rummage sale, bargain hunt and shop in general.  She was amazingly well at Jeopardy and enjoyed solving puzzles and doing crossword puzzles. She was a beautiful person and that beauty radiated the most when she would spend any time with her two grandsons, especially teaching them life skills and chores such as baking and house cleaning. If you knew her you remembered her unique viewpoints, open mindedness, kindness and intelligence. She related to people of all walks of life and was remembered most for putting others before herself.

After her 62 years of life she had passed away January 8th, 2022, in Syracuse, NY at SUNY Upstate Hospital suddenly after suffering a devastating stroke a couple days prior. The medical team from Upstate were only discovering worse diagnoses during stroke testing.  The most significant being brain, lung and pancreas cancer.  She would want all of us to remember her pain free and happy celebrating her life.
