LOWVILLE, NY –Â Thomas C. Young, 58, of Hemlock Drive, Lowville, died on Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at his home.
Born March 29, 1961, in Lowville, the son of Ronald D. and Julia A. (Benware) Young, he graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1980.
Tom went to work for Climax Mfg. right of high school as a gluer operator for 14 years. He then accepted a position with International Paper in Indianapolis, Indiana, as a section manager where he worked until Multiple Sclerosis forced him to retire.
Tom married his high school sweetheart Susan M. McVoy on Aug. 22, 1981, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan.
Tom is survived by his two daughters, Heather L. Young of Mooresville, Indiana; Jessica M. Young of Cortland, New York and her daughter, his joy, Madison Marie Griep; his parents, Ron and Julia, Lowville; his brothers and sister, Ronald D. (Susan) Young II, South Carolina; Anna Marie (Howard J.) Koch, Indiana; Kip A. (Suzanne) Young, Chateaugay, NY and John M. Young, Lowville; nieces, nephews; and the mother of his children, Susan (Greg) Kulzer.
He was predeceased by his niece, Krystal Koch, and his beloved canine friend Sophie.
Tom enjoyed many outdoor activities which included snowmobiling, fishing and hunting with his family. He loved watching football and was an avid New York Yankees fan.
A memorial service will be noon Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019, at the Sundquist Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Seymour, officiating. Burial will follow in Old Glendale Cemetery.
A calling hour will precede the memorial service from 11 a.m. to noon.
