Traffic Alert: Route 3 in Felts Mills

WATERTOWN, NY — The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that crews are expected to begin paving operations on a portion of State Route 3 in Jefferson County on Friday, June 26.

Work will be taking place between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. is expected to be complete by Wednesday, July 1.

Work will begin in the hamlet of Felts Mills at the intersection of State Routes 3 and 971V and will continue along State Route 3, ending near the intersection of State Routes 3 and 26 in the hamlet of Great Bend, Town of Champion. Motorists are urged to slow down and safely move over when driving through work zones and whenever encountering roadside vehicles displaying red, white, blue, amber or green lights, including maintenance and construction vehicles in work zones.

A recent NYSDOT public service announcement highlights the importance of driving responsibly and paying attention in work zones and obeying New York State’s “Move Over” laws.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
