At approximately 8:05 p.m. on January 24, 2026, the Black River Fire Department and Black River Ambulance were dispatched by Jefferson County 911 to a reported structure fire at 27634 State Route 283, Black River Estates, in the town of LeRay.

Two dogs and one cat remain unaccounted for.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Jefferson County Cause and Origin Team.
