Watertown apartment building evacuated due to smoke caused by burnt food

WATERTOWN, NY — City firefighters were dispatched shortly after 7 a.m. Saturday to a report of smoke at 305 Gotham St.

Firefighters damaged two doors to gain entry to an apartment where they discovered heavy smoke due to burnt food. The apartment building was ventilated.

One person was evaluated at the scene by Guilfoyle Ambulance for smoke inhalation. Firefighters cleared the scene at 7:45 a.m.
