Watertown families sought to host Norwegian exchange student

WATERTOWN, NY — The Watertown Rotary Clubs (Noon, Sunrise, and Evening) are seeking two or three families to host a female exchange student from Norway for the 2019-2020 academic year at Watertown High School. Each family would host the student for three to four months each. The student will arrive in August 2019 and return home at the end of June 2020.

Families with children of all ages, including families with no children in the house, are eligible. It is not necessary to have a teenage child of at home. Families will be expected to treat the student as a family member, not a guest. They will provide food and housing for the student, and have the student participate in family events. They will also need to support the student’s participation in school and community activities – working with the Rotary club. The local Rotary clubs will help facilitate events, training and expectations and be an advisor to the student and the family.

Rotary Youth Exchange is a country-to-country exchange of high-school age young people, providing a cultural and educational experience for both the student and hosts. The exchange program offers an opportunity to develop a lifetime bond that broadens the international perspective of family members, and helps a foreign student experience daily life in America.
