WATERTOWN, NY — The Watertown Housing Authority (WHA) announces the retirement of Executive Director Michael Robare, who will conclude his 21-year tenure with the Authority on October 4, 2026.
Throughout his more than two decades of service, Robare has provided leadership and oversight to the Watertown Housing Authority and has been instrumental in supporting the Authority’s mission of providing safe, affordable, and quality housing opportunities to the community.
Effective October 5, 2026, Shawn VanBrocklin, currently serving as Assistant Executive Director, will assume the position of Executive Director. VanBrocklin brings over 11 years of extensive experience with the Watertown Housing Authority and a strong understanding of the organization’s operations, programs, employees, and commitment to its residents. His appointment provides continuity of leadership as the Authority moves forward while maintaining its focus on effective operations and quality housing services.
