Watertown man accused of choking, striking woman during domestic incident

WATERTOWN, NY —  Jonathan J. Vega, 22, of 2558 Alexandra Meadows, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 2558 Alexandra Meadows with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment.

Mr. Vega is accused of striking Savanna D. Vega, 19, repeatedly with open hands and closed fists during a domestic incident at about 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

He is also accused of “placing his elbow on her neck and applied pressure to the point she was unable to breathe and later placed both hands around the victim’s neck and squeezed to the point the victim started to lose vision,” according to court documents.

He was being held pending arraignment Thursday in morning in City Court.
