Watertown man accused of damaging cell phone during domestic incident

WATERTOWN, NY —  Richard C. Brandt, 64, of 231 Franklin St., Apt. 101, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 7:22 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 231 Franklin St. with third-degree criminal mischief, a felony.

He is accused of damaging an iPhone XS Max valued at $1,149.99 and belonging to Deborah Brant, 61, when he slammed it on a counter top causing the phone to bend and not turn back on at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at his home, according to court documents.

He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment Wednesday morning in City Court.
