Watertown man accused of falsely reporting burglary, police say

WATERTOWN, NY —  Bill H. Bailey, 49, of 415 Gotham St., Apt. 6, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 8:13 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at his residence with third-degree falsely reporting an incident.

Mr. Bailey is accused of reporting to the Jefferson County 911 Center at about 8:48 p.m. April 21 that someone had entered his apartment and stole jewelry “when he knew that the incident did not in fact occur due to him giving the jewelry away to someone at an earlier date,” according to court documents.

He was additionally charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana. Police allege he possessed meth and marijuana.

He is summoned to appear July 30 in City Court.
