Watertown man accused of spitting bloody saliva at officer, damaging sign

WATERTOWN, NYCharles W. Howard, 51, of 232 W. Main St., Apt. 31A, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 9:20 p.m. Friday, July 5, at 113 W. Main St. with fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

Mr. Howard is accused of striking a sign in front of Hilltop Towers, 113 Main St., with a skateboard causing a deep gash at about 9:20 p.m. Friday, according to court documents.

He also allegedly spit bloody saliva at a uniformed officer during the incident, police said.

He was being held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $500 police bail pending arraignment Saturday morning in City Court.
