Watertown man faces several felony charges in sex offense arrest, police say

WATERTOWN, NY  —  The Watertown Police Department released the following statement on March 17, 2024:

“Members of our uniformed patrol division responded to investigate a sex offense on 03/17/2024 at 4:38 am. It was alleged that Shane Kirkby used hidden cameras to record other people without their knowledge or consent, had sexual intercourse with a person under the age of thirteen, subjected a person under thirteen years of age to sexual contact, and forcibly touched the intimate parts of another person. Two daggers were also found in his residence.

A search warrant was signed by the Honorable Judge Neddo and executed by our Special Response Team with the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team.

As a result of the investigation, Shane Kirkby, a 43-year-old Watertown man
was charged with Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, a class A felony, Rape in the first degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third
degree, a class D felony, Sex Abuse in the first degree, a class D felony, Unlawful
Surveillance in the second degree, a class E felony, Endangering the Welfare of a
Child, a class A misdemeanor, and Forcible Touching, a class A misdemeanor.

He was held pending arraignment in Jefferson County CAP Court where he was remanded to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.”
