Watertown man threw baby bouncer at TV during domestic incident, police say

WATERTOWN, NY —  John A. Ellsworth, 24, of 105 Creekwood Dr., Apt. 5, Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 11:28 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at his residence with first-degree criminal contempt, a felony, endangering the welfare of a child, and second-degree harassment.

Mr. Ellsworth is accused of violating the orders of a City Court order of protection when he threatened to punch Marrissa Ruttan, 25, in her face during a domestic incident at about 11:15 p.m. Oct. 11 at 105 Creekwood Dr., according to court documents.

He is also accused of throwing a baby bouncer at a television while holding a 4-month-old child during the domestic incident, police said.

He was arraigned before Town of Watertown Justice David A. Renzi who sent him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with bail set at $1,500 cash. He was represented at the arraignment by Jefferson County Public Defender Julie M. Hutchins. He is scheduled to re-appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 17.
