Watertown woman charged with aggravated DWI, leaving scene of property damage accident

WATERTOWN, NY —   Shana L. Welsh, 42, of 424 Bridge St., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 8:19 p.m. Monday, Sept. 23, at her residence with aggravated driving while intoxicated, imprudent speed, failure to keep right, unsafe lane change and two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

A blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI, which carries harsher penalties upon conviction, is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or greater. Police did not provide her BAC or details of the accidents.

She is summoned to appear Oct. 9 in City Court.
