Incident: structure fire
Location: 618 Cayuga Avenue
Companies Responding: E-1, T-1, R-1, E-2, E-3, BC
Narrative: Structure fire at the above address. Fighting Engine 1 was first on scene
and led the firefight with newly promoted Captain Moore in charge. Truck 1
controlled ventilation, E-3 secured the water supply, R-1 was RIT, and Engine 2
commanded the second line. The fire was in the rear of the building in and above the kitchen. The fire was controlled relatively quickly, but there were several void spaces involved so extensive overhaul by all companies was necessary. The fire did not make it into the main structure because of the correct placement of the initial two lines.
Regrettably, there were animals inside that died of smoke inhalation as a result of this event.
City PD, GEMS, City codes, and National Grid were on scene to help.
There were no injuries reported at the time of this release.
