WATERTOWN, NY — William A Drake, 82, of Watertown and formerly of Mannsville, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019, at the Samaritan Keep Home where he had been a resident since August 2017.
Bill was born March 7, 1937, and raised by Loving Foster Parents Ervin and Maude Beattie. Bill was born blind, and they arranged for him to attend the Botavia School for the Blind.
Later Bill worked at the JRC Sheltered Workshop assembling books until his retirement. Bill was good-natured and loved music of all kinds, listening to baseball games, taking walks, and reading Braille. His memory was phenomenal and many counted on him to recall facts. He especially enjoyed his Study of the Bible and being involved in the public ministry. One of the highlights of his life is when he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 12, 1990. He remained an active member until his death.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 28345 Route 342, Black River, NY, with Elder Tom Kosteroski officiating.
Arrangements are with Carpenter Stoodley Funeral Home in Belleville, NY.
