William E. “Bill” Pedrick, 51, Dexter

DEXTER, NY  —  William Edward “Bill” Pedrick, 51, passed away on May 17, 2016, at the Samaritan Medical Center.

A memorial service and interment will be held at 11a.m. Aug. 10, 2024, at the Big Moose Chapel, 1544 Big Moose Road, Big Moose Lake, Eagle Bay, NY 13331.

Born on July 1, 1964 in Petersburg, Virginia, son of Edward William Pedrick and Mary Giddings, he graduated from St. Pius X High School, Pottstown, PA in 1983. Following school he served in the US Air Force. Upon his discharge he returned home a short time before moving to the Pacific Northwest.

The Pacific Northwest was Bill’s awakening. He was called to nature to enjoy the pristine streams and mountains. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, backpacking, kayaking, and winter time sports.

He got to know his future wife Andrea while skiing together at Mt. Ashland, Oregon. There, they formed a bond that would cover more than twenty years. They were engaged overlooking the Medford Oregon Valley and married April 12, 1997 at the Villa Marre, located in Little Rock, Arkansas. A month after the wedding celebration with friends and family, Bill was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Treatment, along with a positive attitude and plenty of laughter, got them through those times alive.

The couple eventually moved to New York where they settled in Dexter. They celebrated the birth of their daughter Rachel in 2003. He was especially proud of his family and loved being a father to Rachel.  He was very active in all her school and after school activities.  He loved sharing his love of the outdoors with her and being a part of her life.

Bill held a bachelor’s of science degree in technical writing and worked professionally for several decades as a news promotion writer/producer. Most recently he worked for KeyBank Investments as a financial advisor. He was also an adjunct instructor for a few semesters at the Jefferson Community College Education Annex, Fort Drum, NY.

He was well known for his contributions to his neighborhood. It wasn’t uncommon to find him shoveling snow out of neighbor’s driveways or mowing their grass to be helpful.

He was a member of Watertown Morning Sunrise Rotary; and a long time member of the National Ski Patrol. He volunteered his time most recently over the years to Watertown Ski Patrol.

Among his survivors are his loving partner in life, Andrea C. Pedrick and his beautiful daughter, Rachel S., of Dexter; his mother and step father, Mary and Richard Frantz, North Coventry Township, PA; his father and step mother, Edward and Faye Pedrick, North Coventry Township, PA; a brother, Mark Pedrick and his two children, Jenna and Jacob, Douglasville, PA; a sister and brother in law, Lyn and Henry Hollingsworth Jr., and their children Bryan (Erika) Hollingsworth & Hayden Hollingsworth, Easton, MD; and his beloved dog, Gunner; extended family and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Dry Hill Ski Patrol c/o  Bill Boulter 203 William St., Watertown, NY 13601.
