WATERTOWN, NY – William Paul “Bill” Howard, 83, of Creekwood Drive died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at home while under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., Watertown.
William was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Camden, NY, the son of William L. and Florence E. Allen Howard. He attended local schools before moving to the Poconos, Pennsylvania, where he joined the United States Army.
He worked for a High Steel Co. out of Chicago for three years before retiring to Watertown. There he worked for New York Air Brake Co. he also worked for his Brother-in-law Terry Granger Paving. He also worked construction for James Chase Roofing and Siding and Interior Decorating for several years. He retired in 1979.
He enjoyed junking scrap metal, hunting and fishing.
He married Geraldine M. Woodard of Watertown on Dec. 31, 1990, after sharing 29 years of companionship. The couple resided in Watertown, and spent 47 years together.
Among survivors are his wife Geraldine Howard, Watertown; two daughters: Cindy Pernice and Karen Russell and her companion Dean Parker. He is also survived by three sons and companions: Richard “Rick” Woodard and Laura Spencer, Frances Seymour and Alice Seymour, Russell Seymour and Christine Szelkowski; four brothers and their wives: Donald and Helen Howard (Sonny), Charles and Rachel Howard, Sherwood and Maureen Howard, and David and Cindy Howard. Two sisters: Beverly Howard Granger, and Sandra Bodah, along with 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five brothers, Donald, Charles, James Race, Robert, and Clifford; and three sisters, Joan Metott, Nancy Granger, and Sandra Race.
A celebration of life is planned for 1 to 3 p.m. Nov. 23, 2019, in the Creekwood Community Center, Creekwood Drive Watertown, NY.
Donations may be made to Geraldine, which will then be given to Hospice of Jefferson County.
