William “Scotty” Buttry, 73, Dexter

DEXTER, NY —  William “Scotty” Buttry, 73, Dexter, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2019, at the home of his sister.

Born Jan. 6, 1946, in Watertown, the son of Porter and Alice Washburn Buttry, he attended Indian River High School. He entered the Army in 1966 and served his country until 1968.

Scotty was married to Lavona Vancour in 1964, then married Linda Gordon in 1970 and later married Ardalee Meeks in 1979. All marriages ended in divorce.

Following his military service he worked as a machinist at the New York Air Brake in Watertown until retiring in 2008.

He was a member of the Machinist Union #761, American Legion in Dexter.

He was an avid car-guy who loved old cars and going to car shows.

He is survived by two children, Scott Parks and Kimberly Rooney both of Virginia; step-children, Wayne Davis of Massena, Danielle Larson of Great Bend and Diette Mahan of Calcium; brothers and sisters, Wanda Ketchum of Dexter, Billy Buttry of Ogdensburg, Rodney Buttry of Massachusetts, Debbie LaBarr of Rochester, Beth Babcock of Florida and Laurie Morgan of Florida; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date to be announced.

Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
