WATERTOWN, NY — A man and a woman were each charged Saturday with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, after they allegedly transported two children in the trunk of a vehicle.
Watertown police say Zacharia J. Kramer, 35, and Ashley M. Hoffman, 35, both of 1107 State St., Watertown, “did knowingly and intentionally transport two juvenile males, ages 6 and 9, in the trunk of a Volkswagen Jetta for approximately six miles while knowing this act was not only unlawful, but dangerous to the physical well being of said children,” at about 11:47 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Walmart, 20823 NYS Route 3, in the town of Watertown. The vehicle was stopped in the 100 block of Washington Street in the city after a witness reported the incident.
Kramer and Hoffman are summoned to appear Dec. 7 in City Court.
