WPD: Suspect charged after trashing TV and video gaming console, swiping wallet during break-in

WATERTOWN, NY  —  Ryan J.S. Spies, 19, of 210 S. Massey St., Watertown, was charged by Watertown police at 7:02 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, in the 100 block of Stone Street with second-degree burglary, a felony, fourth-degree grand larceny, a felony, third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

Spies is accused of “damaging a PlayStation 4 valued at $199.99 belonging to a 19-year-old victim during a burglary when he placed it in a bathroom sink and turned the water on, submerging it,” at about 6:31 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at 135 Park Place, according to court documents.

He is additionally accused of stealing a wallet containing a credit card belonging to the the 19-year-old male victim during the same burglary, police said.

Spies is also accused of kicking a 75-inch flat screen LG television valued at $569.99 belonging to a 36-year-old man causing it to break during the burglary, police said.

He was held for arraignment in City Court.
