WPD Update: Tilden Street standoff

WATERTOWN, NY — The Watertown Police Department released the following statement about an incident on Tuesday, Oct. 6:

“This morning our officers received information that persons wanted on warrants were at 310 Tilden St. in our city.

When our uniformed patrol officers first attempted to make contact at the residence, no one answered.

At 11:28 AM, 33 year old Heather L. Collins came to the door and was arrested on two bench warrants out of Watertown City Court.

The other wanted person remained in the residence and appeared to barricade himself inside.

Additional officers from our Criminal Investigation Division, as well as detectives from the Metro Jeff Task Force arrived to assist with observing the house while a search warrant was obtained for drugs and the wanted male.

The department’s Special Response Team was activated to assist with the search warrant.

During the early afternoon, a department crisis negotiator made contact with an occupant of the residence. He was able to talk the male into surrendering before the search warrant was executed.

Two males exited the residence and both males were detained for identification.

At 1:53 PM, we identified and arrested 29 year old Robert J. Grande on an Oneida County Court warrant for Burglary in the Second Degree.

The other male was not involved and released.

Both Ms. Collins and Mr. Grande were brought to the station. Ms. Collins will be arraigned in City Court.

Mr. Grande was turned over to Oneida County Sheriff Deputies.”
