WWNY to air Cuomo-Nixon debate

WATERTOWN, NY — WWNY-TV will broadcast a Democratic gubernatorial primary debate between Governor Andrew Cuomo and Cynthia Nixon on Aug. 29 at 7:00PM.

The debate is hosted and produced by WCBS-TV, CBS2 News NYC and Hofstra University.

The commercial-free hour-long debate will be taped earlier in the day and broadcast throughout the state and online from 7 to 8 p.m.

It will include questions from moderator Maurice DuBois, co-anchor of CBS2 News, and Marcia Kramer, chief political correspondent at WCBS-TV.

The debate will have an audience of about 150 people.

Hofstra University has a long tradition of promoting civic engagement through debates and public forums.

It is the only university to host three consecutive presidential debates.

James Corbin, WWNY TV program director, noted “WWNY-TV accepted the offer to broadcast the debate from CBS2News and Hofstra University, knowing it was a great opportunity for our viewers in the north country to hear both candidates’ positions on important issues facing the state.”
