Zoo New York celebrates 100th anniversary in 2021

WATERTOWN, NY — Zoo New York is pleased to announce that in 2021, we
will be celebrating our 100th Anniversary of service to the north country.

Zoo New York opened its door to the community in 1921 as the Park Zoo Club.

The Park Zoo club made its first deposit of $10.40 and purchased the first animal for the Zoo’s collection, Bucko the Bear.

Since then, the Zoo has been known as the Watertown Zoo, the NYS Living Museum, NYS Zoo at Thompson Park, and is now known as Zoo New York.

During 2021 Zoo New York will be hosting multiple events to commemorate our 100th Anniversary. All the events will build up and lead to our Centennial Celebration to be held on August 28th, 2021.
