WATERTOWN, NY — There are many exciting things happening at Zoo New York at Thompson Park. After an outpouring of support and enthusiasm for the zoo, staff have decided to move into daily operation hours much earlier than normal!
Beginning March 1, Zoo New York will be open to the public from 11 AM – 3 PM every day. This reflects a desire to create more opportunities for visitors to come by. In previous years, the zoo would remain open only on weekends until our Season Kickoff event in the spring, but this year, we have heard the feedback from guests, supporters, and local leaders, and have found that it is within our means to be open daily.
Many of our animals benefit from socialization with guests, and we look forward to creating more memories of conservation, education, and adventure.
We will expand our hours further on April 25 & 26 with our Spring Fling Weekend, which will combine Earth Day celebrations with our unofficial “busy season” kickoff. At that time, we will be open daily from 10 AM – 5 PM. That event will feature special guests, community vendors, zookeeper presentations, animal enrichment, entertainment, and more.
